The pricing model in one paragraph
Per-check pricing tailored to small businesses hiring contractors and employees. Three published packages with the candidate paying through a candidate-facing portal in most flows.
Notes from the pricing page
- Sister product to TransUnion SmartMove (tenant screening, $25 / $40 / $48 per report) and ShareAble for Multifamily (enterprise rental screening). The Hires product is the workforce variant.
- Published tiers are Basic $25, Plus $40, Pro $60 per check. The vendor pricing page (hires.shareable.com) blocks automated fetch (HTTP 403); these tier names and rates were corroborated on 26 June 2026 against two independent reviews (Top10, Chamber of Commerce), both of which describe the product in the present tense as active. Earlier internal data carried Basic / Standard / Premium $25 / $35 / $45, which did not match the live Basic / Plus / Pro tier structure.
- Pricing structure favours flows where the candidate pays the screening fee at submission.
- Bureau-grade SSN verification leveraging TransUnion consumer credit data.
The three TransUnion products are not the same
TransUnion publishes three distinct workforce / tenant screening products and they are often confused:
- SmartMove is the individual landlord tenant-screening product ($25 / $40 / $48 per report).
- ShareAble for Hires is the workforce background-check product covered on this page ($25 / $40 / $60 per check).
- ShareAble for Multifamily is the enterprise multifamily-portfolio tenant-screening product, sold quote-only.
If you have been quoted a custom price on a TransUnion product, confirm which of the three you are buying.
What is in each tier
- Basic ($25). Identity verification, state and county criminal records, federal watchlists, sex offender registry.
- Plus ($40). Basic plus SSN verification and fraud-alert checks.
- Pro ($60). Plus plus employment verification and a bureau credit report.
Hidden costs
- Candidate-pays flow. The pricing structure favours flows where the candidate pays the screening fee at submission. If your hiring process puts the fee on the employer, factor that into the per-check calculation.
- Drug testing and education verification. Not included; available as add-ons at separate per-check pricing.
- Pass-through court fees. County and state record fees may apply where the criminal search reaches a court directly.
Why pick TransUnion ShareAble for Hires
- Cheapest published per-check US workforce rate ($25 Basic).
- Bureau-grade SSN verification leveraging TransUnion's consumer credit data; useful for high-trust verification.
- Candidate-pays workflow built into the product.
Why not pick TransUnion ShareAble for Hires
- Less ATS integration breadth than Verified First, Checkr, or GoodHire.
- The three TransUnion products are easy to confuse; procurement needs to be explicit about which one is being bought.
- If you need international coverage, look elsewhere (US only).
